For the last twenty years, Virginia L. Bartlett, PhD, has listened to the stories of patients, families, chaplains, and medical professionals as a clinical ethicist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. For years, she kept “notes to self” as her home and professional life seemed to interweave but also produce fragments. Questions about what matters most, family, health, death, and the meaning of life from her young children, family, and friends echoed questions she consulted on at work, case by case. In Reflective Practice in Clinical Ethics: A Workbook for Professional Development (2027), Dr. Bartlett shares stories from these years and offers all caregivers a framework for reflecting on our unique moral experience.
In this one-hour workshop, Dr. Bartlett will share resources from her workbook, including case studies, reflection questions, and resources to read, hear, and see for your professional development. Attendees will have the opportunity to gather in small groups to reflect on their moral experience as care providers. Whether you are a health professional, religious professional, or a caregiver navigating your own depths, this workshop is the opportunity you’ve been craving.
Co-sponsored by Springfield College and Meadville Lombard Theological School.
