The work of conflict transformation and justice-making is a spiritual practice. Whether we are working to create justice on a personal, communal or societal level, a grounded spiritual center animates and sustains this work with vision, fortitude and resilience. Through nurturing discernment processes, spiritual directors can support the work of sacred activism and prophetic challenge in our directees and in ourselves. In this two-hour workshop, participants will engage the work of developing discernment as a resource for conflict transformation and justice-making. It will consider the following questions: How can we embrace conflict as a spiritual practice? In what ways can spiritual discernment help us to step into conflict, rather than avoiding it? How can spiritual companioning nurture and support conflict transformation?
