Lynne currently serves as interim President and CEO of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).
Lynne C. Schaefer currently serves as interim President and CEO of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). She took on this temporary role following her retirement in June 2022 as Vice President for Finance and Administration at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where she had served since 2005.
In her role as the chief business officer at UMBC, she was responsible for all aspects of financial management for annual operations exceeding $450 million. She also provided leadership for facilities management, human resources, environmental safety and health, dining services, the bookstore, campus police, and general business services. Ms. Schaefer also previously served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and as Budget Director and Vice President for Administrative Services at Wayne State University in Detroit. Ms. Schaefer began her career in state government in Michigan, and worked in the Governor’s Office, Depts. of Management and Budget and Treasury, and as President of the Michigan Education Trust. She holds an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University and a BA from Michigan State University.
Lynne has been an active Unitarian Universalist for more than 25 years, and is currently a member of Channing Memorial Church in Ellicott City, Maryland. She has held many volunteer leadership positions in her congregations and has served on a ministerial search committee.
