Barb Greve

Board Member, Chair of Governance Team

Rev. Mr. Barb Greve is a UU minister, a religious educator, and a hospice chaplain. He served as Co-Moderator of the UUA with Elandria Williams from 2017-2020.

The Rev. Mr. Barb E. Greve is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister and a Masters Level Credentialed Religious Educator serving as a Hospice Chaplain at Vitas Healthcare in Milpitas, CA, and as an Affiliated Community Minister to the First Parish in Framingham, MA. In 2019 he served as Professor of Prophetic Voice and Social Transformation at the Chaplaincy Institute in Berkeley, CA. A 2007 graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry, Barb served as an Interim Director of Religious Education in six different Unitarian Universalist Congregations between 2007-2018. Barb also currently serves on the Unitarian Universalist Studies Network board.

Over a distinguished career of denominational service, Barb has been both an innovator and an institutionalist. He co-founded Transgender Religious professional Unitarian Universalists Together (TRUUST) in 2004, and the Interim Religious Educators Guild in 2010. He served on the Credentialing Committee for UUA Music Professionals from 2011-2013 and continues to serve as a trainer for the UUA’s Beyond Categorical Thinking Program. 

During the second of his two terms (2003-2007 and 2013-2017) on the Board of Trustees of Starr King School for the Ministry, Barb was elected as Chair of the Board and as a Trustee to the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley CA. In 2017 he was appointed (and then elected in 2018) as Co-Moderator of the Unitarian Universalist Association, serving with Elandria Williams until 2020. He is a recipient of the UUA’s Annual Award for Distinguished Service to the cause of Unitarian Universalism (2021).
