M.Div. Applicants An on-campus interview is generally required for all M.Div. applicants (for both the residential and modified residency programs). This hour-long visit provides an opportunity for the committee to get to know the applicant and for the applicant to ask questions of the committee. The members of the admissions committee - including the admissions director, a faculty member, the registrar, and a student representative - conduct the interview. If at all possible, the admissions visit will include opportunities to meet students and attend classes and other events.
Visits should be scheduled a least a month in advance. All application materials should arrive at the admissions office at least one week before the interview occurs to allow the committee time to review them before the visit.
As you prepare for the interview, you may wish to consider the following topics/questions:
- How do I define myself religiously, as a Unitarian Universalist or other faith expression?
- What are the sources of my faith?
- What experiences lead me to believe that I have been called to ordained ministry?
- What gift would I bring to the Meadville Lombard community?
- What do I need from the community to help me grow?
- Do I feel academically and emotionally prepared for the seminary experience?
- Do I understand the economic realities of professional ministry?
In exceptional circumstances, alternative arrangements for an interview with an appointed clergy professional near the applicant's home can be made for students applying to either the residential or modified residency programs.
The school provides lodging for prospective students. Generally prospective students are housed in Fleck House, in the University of Chicago's International House, or in Chicago Theological Seminary's student housing. Reservations will be made by the admissions office when the visit is scheduled.
Contact the Director of Admissions about your application, your visit, and/or your visit to the school.
DMin Applicants Contact the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program, regarding a possible visit to the ML campus.
