Thomas Haverly

The Rev. Dr. Thomas Haverly is a Chicago native, and is an ordained Episcopal priest with six years of parish experience in western New York state. In addition to the work he does for Meadville, he occasionally fills in for Episcopal parishes in the Chicago area. He has 25 years experience teaching Biblical studies as well as other classes in religion and philosophy. For eleven of those years he was also a theological librarian at Colgate Rochester Divinity School.

His reading and writing interests include Biblical studies, oral tradition and performance, communication and media studies.  Tom is also currently teaching courses at Loyola University in Chicago, and at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City.

Tom is married to Christine Wenderoth, the library director for the JKM Library of Lutheran School of Theology and McCormick Theological Seminary, and teaches as a faculty member of both school in the field of ministry studies (religious education and gender issues).  Chris is also an ordained Presbyterian minister.  Tom & Chris share in the lives of their four children:  Christa, Emily, Rina and Anders -- and Oreo, the cat.
